Starlink

As a keen visitor to the west coast of Scotland and a technology enthusiast, I recently decided to take advantage of a promotion from Starlink and purchase the equipment for their innovative satellite internet service.

I like to spend time in the rugged landscapes of the outer Hebrides, but as someone who needs a reliable internet connection for work, the idea of being completely off the grid for an extended period of time is problematic . That's where Starlink comes in. With its promise of high-speed, low-latency internet access anywhere in the world, I saw an opportunity to stay connected whilst away. To achieve what I needed I wanted to be able to use it when we are on a hookup supply, or very occasionally when we are off supply via the leisure battery.

To accommodate the Router I bought a wall mount from Amazon and fitted it on the end of the unit behind the drivers seat. I then connected a inverter directly to the leisure battery to provide occasional off grid power.

During my next visit to the outer Hebrides, I plan to update this blog and share my experience with Starlink.
